Society Registration


At present societies are registered in Societies Registration Act, 1860. It a state level and central level registration. Many states have adopted the Societies Registration Act,1860 and amended it according to their requirement.

The basic document of any society is its Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations.
Atleast 7 Members are required for incorporation of any state level of society, there is no upper limit.

The Objects are Literary, Charitable, Scientific and resource oriented etc.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION


A Society could not be registered by name of already registered society. The proposed name should not show that the Society is linked with Government.
Following documents are required for registration of Society:
  • Request letter to register a society under SR Act 1860.
  • Two Set of Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulation.
  • Affidavit from the president of Society.
  • Address proof of all Members.
  • List of Proposed governing body
  • List of Desire’s Persons
  • A copy of the report of the proceedings of the General meeting at which the registration of the Society was resolved.
